Compliments of whiskeymarie....

Ten years ago, what were you doing?

Finishing up my MBA. Ready, oh so ready to be done with school and the pompous arses that I was stuck with on a daily basis. I took 21 credits during summer session because I wanted the fcuk out of there. Plus the bill is mighty expensive when attending a private school. During this time, I was also working part-time. My life had become rather regimented but it had to as I had millions of pages to read and as many silly papers to write. And then the dreaded group projects that seemed to be the crowning glory of each class. I hated, no - despised these projects. Scooping out my eyes with a red hot poker was a significantly more appealing prospect than these little group love-ins I was continually subjected to. But at the end of the day, I can place MBA after my name if I so choose. Besides when I initially got hired, the damn piece of paper is just now paying off again.

dream a little dream

Friday night has now turned into Saturday morning. 1:30 AM. I should be asleep. I should call him and tell him. Everything. There are many shoulds looming. But none of those matter right now. Because right now I am truly blissfully happy. Every inch. Every cell. Every molecule. Every atom. Pure. Complete. Total happiness.

Happiness is not a mask that I don when out in the world. No. It is deep within me and radiates at all times. I can feel it in my heart. It is palpable. It is alive.

My life is nothing short of amazing. Dreams do come true. And I now realize those dreams have to come true so that I can dream bigger dreams that will one day soon come true as well. The flower continues blooming.

Tonight I realized one of my long held dreams. Last week in Cali I touched several dreams. I smelled roses. Felt the surf on my toes. My dreams. They are all coming true. And for that I am beyond thankful and grateful.

I am one lucky girl.

Snail Mail

Back home to the land of humidity and heat index. My first and favorite thing to do once I am back home is to dig through my mail pile. Now, pile is a strong term when applied to my mail here. All three pieces of mail were calmly and patiently waiting for me, but one piece did strike me as different.

Upon closer investigation of this odd envelope, I noticed the return address pointed to none other than The Southern Gentleman.

I gingerly opened the envelope to find the following scribbled in his hand on personalized stationary:

Dear Patsy,

What is happening? I am trying to get things together for the show. So much to do, including some work on my website.... Fingers are crossed.

All else is O.K. Been playing more [sport activity], getting my house organized, and catching up on reading. Here's hoping all is peachy in SxSWland.

Take good care and look forward to telling you all about the show.

The Southern Gentleman :)

What brought this on I asked myself. It has only been a few weeks since his last email to me, an email I never responded to. I peeked at the date of the last email... and much to my surprise it was dated a month ago! Yikes!

So I enjoyed a few cocktails last night and then called him. It went directly into voicemail, and I left a message. Hopefully he calls back tonight or I will have to send him an email tomorrow.

Up, Up, and Away

I am off for a long weekend. Heading to the land of "Hills, that is. Swimmin pools, movie stars"... yes, if you found yourself suddenly singing the Beverly Hillbillies theme song - then you know I am heading to Cal-i-forn-i-a!

Can't wait! Catching up with my bestest gay pal ever! Dining at a new trendy spot in the Hollywood hills, communing with the sea!

Unfortunately, I must fly at dawn and enjoy a connection. Hopefully there will be just enough time to enjoy a bloody mary between flights.

Ah... California dreamin... so nice after living on the surface of the sun :)

Outraged

This article sent my blood pressure through the roof with rage.

Greyhounds are a creature very close to my heart. I despise the fact that in this day and age these poor animals are still breed to race and kennel operator treat the innocent dogs like trash, especially those who cannot or do not race to make these kennel owners money.

My girl was such a case. The poor dog was gravely ill - losing as much as 10 pounds from her first race to her last (only two months later). For a dog to lose THAT much weight, it is clear to anyone that the dog is physically sick! Sick as a direct effect of the horrible kennel conditions she was forced to live in.

She was lucky because I gave her a second chance, I put up with all her problems, got her back on the road and now she is a perfecto angel - she is healthy, happy, and leading a full life.

Had this UK kennel operator had her, my girl would have been on the vet school's table in pieces. How many gorgeous girls and boys like mine had their life brutally cut short for 30 quid?

So So Monday

Tired. I have been so extraordinarily exhausted lately. I feel out of steam. Somehow since my week-on-the-couch-popping-cold-pills, I've not gotten back to fully serviced and ready to roar. Of course, packed weekends do not help.

Life has been a dingy gray blah of sorts.

My West Coast trip has snuck up on me. I leave before the crack of dawn on Thursday and have done nothing in preparation.

No word from The Southern Gentleman. Think my last email entailing the fact that the plot line of Made of Honor really hit home with me might have been a little too much for him to wrap his head around. The whole story is about male/female friends who have been friends for 10 years, one thing leads to another and just as one friend gets ready to tell other friend that he loves her - poof! she met some other man! Much hi jinx ensue but the best friends end up together as the bigger relationship was always there. Yes, a very familiar script in my life. Just hope that neither of us has to crash the other's next wedding.

Montana Man, on the other hand, has been trying to resurface a bit. I put up with the little bit necessary to make life flow smoother but he can take his problems elsewhere because they are not my problems to solve or even assist in solving.

Forgot my ID badge this morning. Only problem is that a secured door stands between me and the bathroom. Not good for a girl who usually sucks down 2 to 3 litres of water a day. Needless to say there has been a moratorium on water consumption. All those years of not breaking the seal whilst drinking is truly paying off today.

Life in a nutshell is dandy. Not stellar or super-duper. But not every day can be a 10+. I will enjoy the subtle joy in days only rated a 6 or 7.

Blocked

Last night while feeling the Tylenol PM sink in, I had several post ideas.

Fast forward to right now, when I have the time and inclination to write one of those winners up, guess who cannot remember those little nuggets. Yeah. Blah.

Am heading to dinner with friends tonight, which is a bonus. Really feel like taking a nap but my sleep pattern is already screwed up and don't want to confuse my body any further. Double blah.

Spring Cleaning

Decided to be brave and muck around with my template. Yeah, cutting and pasting code is difficult stuff... but for a non-techno girl like me, cut-paste-save was quite a huge commitment.

but things look ok. change is good. enjoying the hot pink overload! today must be a pink day... was drooling over pink cowboy boots earlier today too...

33.5

I am on the mend. Of course, missing a full week of corporate slave duties has made this week pure craziness, but must muddle through.

Today. May 8th. Means I am officially half way through my 33rd year. 33 1/2... wow. Kinda nutty to know that I am six little months away from 34.

This realization struck me as I wrote the date in my notebook this morning. I do not feel anywhere remotely near 33, let alone the 34 that is sneaking up on me.

Am I where I thought I should be by this stage in my life?

That is a difficult question to answer. It is a split between yes and no. A part of me never looked that far forward. Right now, I feel like I am living the dream... the past year has been pure dream. and I am so extraordinarily thankful for this experience. Personal life has been dicey but that too is coming around.

While my life to this point has been good, deep within my heart, I know the best is yet to come!
