feeling is returning

A good night of sleep complete with snoring and whining pups made a world of difference in how I feel today. While not at the 100% mark, I am much closer than I was yesterday.

Settling back in, listening to my world a bit differently, it is all goodness. I can feel the subtle but palpable shift as a result of my weekend. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

Even though The Southern Gentleman is making positive steps, I do need to put myself out there a bit more. A lot more actually. Not surrounded by a gaggle of girls either. Just need to find where my motivation is for that endeavor.

Tonight Eddie and I are off... concert bound... been sooo long since I have been to a concert like this! Cannot wait!!

addiction

I am beyond excited! !

Today we go see Twilight.

I am not expecting the movie to be as tasty as the book. Honestly there is no way the movie can be. The book primarily focuses in on emotion, which cannot be conveyed in a movie. Besides the kid that plays Edward in the flick is no where as hott as the Edward that dances through my head as I read. None the less, I am excited because a bunch of us girls are going to see it together. Regardless of the film's presentation, we'll have a fab time!

And today is the final day of NaBloPoMo! And I made it! All 30 days I posted something! Woo Hoo!!

allegies + meds

A word to the wise...

If one already has an extremely low tolerance for any type of over-the-counter medication, then taking a sleep-inducing allergy reliever at 8 AM is not a good idea.

Even super potent high octane coffee has not lifted the fog.

Is the day over yet?!

18 June 2008

It has been a quiet few days here at the ranch. No scantily clad adventures to report. Having returned to the blazing oven set on broil - otherwise known as Texas - my body is re-acclimating from my brief stint in the cool mountain air.

My hair is experiencing the toughest adjustment. Away from the dry air and plunged deep into humidity. You see, I am blessed with a thicket of naturally curly hair. Not the nice, cutesy curls or waves - no, I have the naturally curly hair that borders on afro on most occasions. Amen for the straightening iron ! It has added years to my life.

But even the straightening iron cannot assist me to win the battle completely. The humidity here is just too much. So even though I can get my hair straight and looking good before I leave for the office, once I open the garage door to depart my temperature controlled cocoon, it is over. The humidity pounces and the afro rears its ugly head on what - just moments ago - was straight hair.

Monday was dismal - I wanted to cry getting off the elevator - yes, I looked like a poodle walking on two legs. Obviously the extremes between Mile High air and Austin sauna caused my hair to go into extreme poodle shock. Yesterday was a tad better, or at least I rationalized that it was. Today my hair follicles are only in mild revolt against the straightening work I did this morning.

Of course, I have to leave the stability of my office in a little while, which means I am thrust back into the moist air that wrecks havoc on my tresses. Oh perfect hair product that makes this poodle-licious problem disappear - oh where, oh where are you?!?!

Blocked

Last night while feeling the Tylenol PM sink in, I had several post ideas.

Fast forward to right now, when I have the time and inclination to write one of those winners up, guess who cannot remember those little nuggets. Yeah. Blah.

Am heading to dinner with friends tonight, which is a bonus. Really feel like taking a nap but my sleep pattern is already screwed up and don't want to confuse my body any further. Double blah.

Spring Cleaning

Decided to be brave and muck around with my template. Yeah, cutting and pasting code is difficult stuff... but for a non-techno girl like me, cut-paste-save was quite a huge commitment.

but things look ok. change is good. enjoying the hot pink overload! today must be a pink day... was drooling over pink cowboy boots earlier today too...

Just call me B.C.

It has been one hell of a week. Supposed to be holiday ~ as the world as I know it is termed 'use it or lose it' ~ however, been working this entire time. This situation directly results in me turning into one super, over the top, nasty-ass bitch. Let's simply say I am bitter, very bitter.

Moving on.

As I do not possess a fully stocked kitchen in SxSWland and I am at home for a decent clip, I decided to go all Betty Crocker. Are you sitting down? Because. I. made. cookies. As if to start with the ingredients in their natural state. And to every single solitary person who asked what I was doing and I replied "baking cookies", they all had the same answer, "Patsy? Are you sick?" Some went so far to say, "Are you fucking sick?" Yes, baking is something so non-Patsy. However, I did enjoy a few cocktails during the entire process. I mean what else is a girl supposed to do while rolling balls of cookie dough from the bowl of never ending cookie dough? 20 minutes is a long time to sit by the oven waiting patiently ~ drinks were a necessity.

I have to go upstairs and make myself pretty as I am meeting some friends for a late night happy hour. This winter stuff sucks. I find myself missing the Lone Star State's pseudo-winter.

Eggs on My Mind

Today's random thought ~

I was in the loo. I am ovulating. And at that moment of discovery, I found myself wondering if there will ever be a day when I am exciting about ovulating? Sharing it with a man? That my ovulating will be the cue to have sex? lots of sex?

Is that day coming soon? Esp. with my birthday right around the corner.

Good God, man!?! Where the fuck are you?

A Tarot a Day

Saw this over at Jennifer's World and couldn't resist doing it myself.

You are The Star

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Star is one of the great cards of faith, dreams realised

The Star is a card that looks to the future. It does not predict any immediate or powerful change, but it does predict hope and healing. This card suggests clarity of vision, spiritual insight. And, most importantly, that unexpected help will be coming, with water to quench your thirst, with a guiding light to the future. They might say you're a dreamer, but you're not the only one.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

The Shorts of Yesteryear

Yesterday my neighbors and any passers-by got an eye full of the crazy chick that has every leaf in the subdivision firmly planted on her front yard. That crazy chick would be me.

Picture it - cleaning the windows of the car on a day that is cool enough for a light jacket. Add to that jacket a gyrl with shorts and sandals on. Quite a sight for my conservative, family land neighborhood.

But the shorts I was wearing are the point of the story. I wore those shorts in high school. Those same shorts fit again! Yippee!

Two pounds away from my goal and five pounds away from my stretch goal! Life is good!

Farewell NaBloPoMo

Hard to believe 30 days and November will be but a distant memory in a few hours.

It is still fucking freezing here. I hate the snow. While it did melt some today - at least the sun came out a bit - it is still chilly.

Don't quite know how I am going to get myself out of bed in the complete darkness that is 5:30 AM.... gym day with Neighbor. I was hoping we'd get the rest of the week off due to inclement weather but alas I will burn some calories off my arse!

I started painting in the kitchen today. Thought about MM's lawyer whilest painting trim - really need to comparison shop I think.

I am bummed as I was not offered Dream Job at this time. I received that crushing blow to the abdomen and ego yesterday. But it also buys me time to get my life - personal life straightened out - find mind, body, soul nirvana before heading off into the wild blue yonder.

I am still melancholy as I looked forward to jetting off to Amsterdam after the first of the year. But hell hasn't frozen over yet, so hope can still burn within my heart. Because without hope, I am nothing.

Money, Money, Money, Money

Today was all about spending cash. The credit cards got a fair workout; however, most purchases were made right here from the coffee table.

First order of business was to get the items from last night's adventure. Much to my disappointment, the two items - a curio cabinet and the coffee table - are on back order. Urgh! I. WANT. IT. NOW. INSTANT. GRATIFICATION. NOW! Alas, I will be waiting, hoping, and praying that the items arrive by mid-December. May the shipping gods have mercy on my desire to finish up the house. I am so over my college coffee table already.

Then I ordered my new boots on-line. The pointy ones are coming in black, the longer sleek pair in double espresso. I cannot wait for them to arrive. Sizing offered zero guidance. The gal said they fit "true to size" but what does that mean to the girl who takes a 7 1/2 or 8. Cuz ordered a pair of shoes from them last year in a 7 and they were a little small. Waiting, hoping, praying that the 7 1/2s fit.

The other on-line purchase was flowers for my southern pal who is recovering from a hysterectomy. The delivery charge was outrageous! 12 bucks! Shipping on the boots was 10 quid!

Tomorrow is another cash outlay day - I have my acupuncture treatment in the afternoon. I have been feeling the effects waning, so I am truly looking forward to recharging my ancient Chinese secrets. Also tomorrow night is my last knitting class. Must knit like a mad woman tonight to get the thing near to done stage.

The Doxie has her first appointment for a bath and cut with a groomer. This should be an adventure - the doxie is terrified of the vacuum and the little clipper I use to shave her bum - doxie will = basket case. But she will be all clean and pretty for her Sunday photo shoot with Santa.
<--- This is the doxie before photo

I had zero motivation today. I got up early to hit the gym with Neighbor. Tomorrow is busy so no painting will get done. But Wednesday is another story - want painting done.

Hopefully I will have some fun stories tomorrow as today was a dull one.

What Is Your Life Path Number?

Your Life Path Number is 4

Your purpose in life is to build your vision.

You are practical and responsible. You work hard, knowing that there are no shortcuts in life.
You work for a better life for yourself and those you love, but you are not an idealist.
Trustworthy and honest, you also demonstrate great courage. People can count on you.

In love, you are a loyal and committed partner. You are the ideal spouse.

You don't give up easily, and sometimes you can be too stubborn and unwilling to change.
You also can be too conservative at times. You sometime miss out on good opportunities.
Also remember that not everyone can work as hard as you, as disappointing as that is!

Sunday Snow

Last night's trivia was okay. Yes, just okay. My neighbor across the street happened to be there. It made for a pleasant diversion. We came in second place while my neighbor and her buddy came in first.

Afterwards, my neighbor came over for a night cap. I am so not used to staying up late - I slept in this morning and it felt grand.

I went to get my palm read but when it was my scheduled time, the woman was starting a reading on someone else. I decided to screw it and left. I was tired of waiting. It is easier to schedule a private appointment.

It is cold and chilly here today. I feel like curling up on the couch. That sounds like my next project, right after I publish this.

No More Tears Formula

Tonight I saw Borat. It was great fun. The theatre was empty - maybe ten of us total. Would have been more fun if there had been more people to laugh with me.

The laundry from the past month and a half is done. One of the joys of working from home is the fact that I can get the laundry done during the day.

Today has been odd - absolutely no tears. It feels as if all my tears have simply dried up. Things that I would have normally cried at - absolutely nothing today. My eyes feel dry - I can't quite explain it. After months of tears - poof! - today none. It is odd but I am not complaining.

Tomorrow is birthday lunch down in Cherry Creek. There is also a psychic fair. I may go - there is a palm reader I have wanted to see. I haven't quite made up my mind as to whether to go. I will sleep on it.

I also plan on painting this weekend. Finish up the few rooms I have left. Start hanging things. Further re-arrange furniture. I really want to concentrate on finishing up my projects.

MM did not call today. I sent a text message letting him know I was not ignoring him when he pinged - that I was at the acupuncturist. I felt that I needed to do that.

I am tired. It has been a long week. I am planning on hitting the gym in the morning. Burn off those final pounds. I am in the home stretch and must make it to the finish line.

Long live Wild Turkey American Honey!
